Cut-to-Size Plywood and Hardboard, Priced by the Square Foot
No full sheets up the stairs. First Ave Supply cuts birch, CDX, Luan and Masonite to your finished sizes on a professional panel saw at 1587 First Avenue. Birch is priced by the square foot, which covers the cut. CDX, Luan and Masonite are sold by the 4x8 sheet plus $7 per finished piece, and the offcut is yours. Every sheet good we cut has a calculator on its own product page, or send the list and we quote it.

We cut on a professional panel saw and we cut square and clean, but this is jobsite accuracy, not cabinet-shop accuracy. Expect up to about 1/16 in of variance, sometimes a bit more on a long rip.
Birch is billed by the whole square foot, rounded up, which covers the cut. Sheet-priced materials are billed per 4x8 sheet plus $7 per finished piece, and whatever is left of the sheet goes home with you on pickup or local delivery.
How it works
Step 1
Pick the material and enter your sizes
Open the sheet good's product page and use the cut calculator: material, finished width, length and piece count. It shows the sheets, the cut charge and the layout before you add it to the cart. Or send the list with the form.
Step 2
We cut it square on the panel saw
Measured, marked and cut. Jobsite accuracy, about 1/16 in. For cabinet-grade fits, order slightly oversize and trim on site.
Step 3
Pick up or get it delivered
Counter pickup at 1587 First Avenue, or local delivery at the store's standard rates with free Manhattan delivery over the threshold.
Birch for what shows
Smooth hardwood face veneers that sand clean and take paint or stain evenly. Shelves, cabinet faces, bookcases, anything visible.
CDX for what is hidden
Construction-grade sheathing, strong and economical. Subfloors, backing, jigs, and anything that gets covered or painted.
Luan and Masonite for thin work
1/4 in Luan for underlayment and panel backs. 1/8 and 1/4 in Masonite for door skins, templates, drawer bottoms and display.
Birch is priced by the square foot cut to size: $7.99 per sq ft in 1/2 in and $9.99 per sq ft in 3/4 in, and the rounding up covers the cut. The others are sold by the 4x8 sheet plus $7 per finished piece: CDX 1/2 in $59.99, CDX 3/4 in $79.99, Luan 1/4 in $49.99, Masonite 1/8 in $29.99 and Masonite 1/4 in $44.99. Full birch sheets are $124.99 in 1/2 in and $139.99 in 3/4 in.
Why is CDX sold by the sheet and birch by the square foot?
Once a cut list gets past about half a sheet, per-square-foot pricing on CDX quietly costs more than the whole sheet does. Selling it by the sheet means you pay the sheet price plus $7 per piece we cut, and the offcut goes home with you. Birch is a finish material bought in smaller amounts, so the square foot is the honest unit there.
How accurate are the cuts?
Panel-saw accuracy: about 1/16 in of variance, sometimes a bit more on a long rip. Fine for shelves, backing, panels, underlayment and most apartment projects. For a drawer box or an inset door, order oversize and do the final trim.
Can I order cut plywood online?
Yes. Each sheet good we cut has a calculator on its product page. Enter finished width, length and pieces and the exact size and price go into the cart. Long narrow birch strips, under 12 in on the short side and over 48 in on the long side, are quoted by hand because the rip runs the full sheet.
Birch or CDX, which should I choose?
If the wood will show, go birch. If it is structural or hidden, CDX does the job for less.
Do you deliver cut plywood?
Yes. Local delivery at the store's standard rates, free in Manhattan over the threshold shown on every product page, and same-day in Manhattan on in-store stock ordered before the cutoff.
Do you cut pine boards and MDF too?
Yes. See the wood and plexiglass cutting page for per-cut charges on boards, MDF and acrylic.
