Terms of sale

Prices on this site can change without notice, including before an order you have already put in a cart is placed. If a price on the site is obviously wrong, we will call you before charging you rather than shipping at a mistaken price.

Stock numbers are a best effort. Shelf counts come from our own point of sale and warehouse counts come from a distributor feed, both refreshed on a schedule. They can be out of date between refreshes, and a count can be wrong if something was miscounted at the counter. A number on this site is our best information, not a guarantee that the item is reserved for you.

Placing an order and receiving the confirmation email means we received it, not that we accepted it. The order is accepted when we pick it and tell you it is ready or out for delivery.

Until then we may cancel or adjust any line : short stock, a pricing error, or a quantity we cannot fill that day. If we cancel a paid line, we refund it to the original payment method.

Anything cut to size and anything special-ordered is not returnable, and opened bagged or boxed material cannot go back on the shelf. The full policy, including the 30-day window, the 48-hour damage window and the restocking fee, is on the returns page.

Delivery is $35 in Manhattan, free over $250. Outside Manhattan it is $65, or $50 over $250. Your first Manhattan delivery is free, any order size. One per account, and one per delivery address. It applies to same-day and next-truck Manhattan orders.

Same-day delivery in Manhattan applies to items in store today, ordered by 10am. Outside Manhattan goes on the next scheduled run, never same day. Outside our delivery zones we do not deliver and do not ship : call us and we will tell you plainly.

Delivery is to the curb or the ground floor unless we have agreed otherwise. Somebody has to be there to take the material. If nobody is, we bring it back and the delivery charge stands.

Pickup orders are held at the counter at 1587 First Avenue. Bring the order number. Risk of loss passes to you when you take the material, or when it is delivered to your address.

Trade account pricing and billing are set per account and apply only to that account. Nothing on this page overrides what is written on your account. Billing to your account, and any payment terms, are approved by us account by account and can be changed or withdrawn.

Tax exemption is applied by the office after we have your certificate on file. It is never set from the website.

Card payments are processed by Stripe. We charge the amount calculated on our own server from the catalog price, your account pricing and your delivery zone : not from anything the browser sends.
