Knife Sharpening on the Upper East Side, Most Jobs Same Day
A dull blade is harder to control and tougher on your hands. First Ave Supply restores a true, lasting edge on kitchen knives, chef's knives, scissors, shears and garden tools at the counter at 1587 First Avenue. No appointment. Bring one knife or the whole roll, we quote each item before we start, and most jobs are ready the same day.

How it works
Step 1
Bring them in
One knife or the whole roll, no appointment needed. Wrap each blade in a towel or sheath it so it travels safely.
Step 2
We read the edge and quote per item
Each blade is inspected first. A paring knife, a chef's knife, kitchen shears and pruners each take a different amount of work, so you get a per-item price before anything touches the belt.
Step 3
Ground, honed and tested
Water-cooled belt at a set angle so the steel never overheats and loses its temper, then honed. Every edge is paper-tested before it goes back to you.
Razor edge that holds
Ground and honed to a clean, durable edge that stands up to real kitchen use.
Same-day service
Drop them off, run your errands around Yorkville, and most jobs are waiting when you come back.
Scissors and garden tools too
Kitchen shears, fabric scissors, pruners and loppers are welcome alongside your knives.
Pricing is per item and depends on the blade. Bring your knives to 1587 First Avenue and we give you a per-item quote before we start, so there are no surprises.
Where can I get knives sharpened near me on the Upper East Side?
At First Ave Supply, 1587 First Avenue between East 82nd and 83rd, in Yorkville. An easy walk from Carnegie Hill, Lenox Hill and the rest of the Upper East Side.
How long does it take?
Most jobs are ready the same day. Large sets may take longer, and we confirm timing when you drop off.
How do you sharpen them?
Each blade is inspected, then ground on a water-cooled belt at a set angle and honed. Keeping the steel cool matters: a dry wheel run hot can draw the temper out of a good knife. Every finished edge is tested on paper.
Do you sharpen scissors and shears?
Yes. Kitchen shears, sewing and fabric scissors, and garden shears.
Do you sharpen serrated or specialty knives?
Bring them by. We tell you honestly at the counter whether we can restore that edge before we begin.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Stop in during store hours. For a large set or a restaurant's worth, send the form first so we can plan for it.
